György was born in Budapest, Hungary, on September
29, 1971. His younger sister was the first member of his family
to come in contact with music when she started learning piano,
hence there was an upright piano at home. At the age of 11, György
enrolled in the Vác Music School. He wanted to learn the drums,
but that course was already full. He then chose piano, but he
was too old for that course. He had no other option; he had to
take up a brass instrument. He learnt to play the trumpet for
4 years. He was a member of the town brass band and performed
in public with them several times. However, he broke off his music
studies because he became more interested in sports. In 1986,
he took 2nd place in the Hungarian national regatta championships.
After a period of active sports, he returned to music. He started
playing piano; first by ear, and later from his sister's musical
scores. At first, electronic music had a great influence on him
(Jean-Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode… etc.). Then
at the age of 16, he got to know work of Iron Maiden, who drove
him towards rock music. The 1989 Dream Theater album, When Dream
and Day Unite was also a great influence...
His main influences include: John Lord, Keith Emerson, Keith Jarret,
Jens Johanssen, Kevin Moore, Jordan Rudess, Tomas Bodin...
